OpenSpime is a project of WideTag, Inc., a technology infrastructure company incorporated in California, USA, providing hardware and software solutions for an Open Internet of Things.
The OpenSpime technology enables individuals, corporations, and governments to better understand the environment surrounding them. A new generation of GPS-enabled sensor networks, based on the open source OpenSpime communication protocol will collect the necessary data, and using scalable server technology, aggreate, manage, and visualize the data collected.

WideTag, Inc. has been founded by a team of experienced entrepreneurs who, having lived in Europe, Italy, are mashing-up the VC-led startup culture of the Silicon Valley, with Europe’s strong values, social responsibility, and design driven life.
WideTag’s auto-catalytic growth is based on two poles of attraction: the one in Italy, serves to create a center of excellence in design and development of our solutions; and the one in California to drive our growth, from a commercial, partnership, and financial point of view.
We have established strong collaborations with the Topix Development Program, and with local Universities, and we are aiming to further our view of a talent lifecycle, encouraging passionate and creative contributors to strengthen our vision, and their experience.
WideTag’s OpenSpime project also was a sponsor of the preeminent Frontiers Of Interaction IV conference held in July 2008 in Turin, Italy.
